Who are you?
We are a military family on a mission to help people find forgotten ancestors. The idea for this site was a collaboration between friends who met at church.

Who is Geeky Kingdom, Inc.?
Geeky Kingdom, Inc. (GKI) was founded by two friends who met through church. Greg (hubby) recently bought our friend's share in the company and is now co-owner. Why did we incorporate? It sounded like a good idea at the time. It's been an interesting learning experience to start out from the beginning as an incorporation.

How are the two companies connected?
GraveSiteGenealogy and GraveSiteGenealogy.com (GSG) are Service Marks of Geeky Kingdom, Inc.

Why do you do this?
We do this not only out of love and gratitude for our ancestors, but also for our Heavenly Father who has granted us life through them. Our progenitors agreed to face many hardships so we could come to this earth. We have, by default, been given a duty to remember them. This is our contribution to that effort.

When will the database be "live"?
Please see our Progress Blog for updates and information.

Will the database include records from the entire US?
Our goal is to be able to include records from all over the world. We are starting in Eastern Tennessee because that is where we reside. We have also taken pictures of cemeteries in Georgia, North Carolina, Idaho, and California.

Aren't there websites that do/offer the same things?
There are some other websites that help people access information found on the USGenWeb (UGW). The UGW is tied to the Tombstone Transcription project (TTP). There are many websites that offer a very simple search engine to help you access this information.

We differ in the following ways:
We can guarantee the accuracy of our information because we take pictures of every headstone in a cemetery.
Our search engine will give you a list of names and photographs, not a list of cemeteries to search.
We seek out small (and often forgotten) cemeteries as well as the large ones.
We complete the entire cemetery.

Why do you charge a fee for access?
Until the search engine is active, all access is free. If you think this site has helped you and you would like to donate, please feel free to do so. We won't argue with you.

Unfortunately, we are not independently wealthy and cannot support the server space and bandwidth on our own. This endeavor also requires cameras, GPS's, gasoline for travel, etc. However, we will try to keep the fees as low as possible.

Is there any way to access the database for free?
Yes! We will be listing the "core" information for every cemetery. To access this please go to the Cemetery Listings page. Find the cemetery you wish to peruse and click on the "NAME LIST" link.

"Core" information includes (if listed on the headstone):
Name, Birth Date, Death Date, Father's Name, Mother's Name, Spouse(s) Name, Marriage Date(s), Children.

The "Core" information does not include:
Titles (or pre-fixes), Military Information, Inscriptions, Notes, Commentery, etc. This is not because we are being stingy. This is because of the way the information was originally entered into the database. Right now it's taking much too much time to put it in list format. If we can find a better/easier way, then we will happily include more information in the "NAME LIST".

We will also make sure that the Family History Centers (sponsored by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints) will have free access to the website. Another way would be to submit headstone photos. Please see our Cemetery Submissions page.

How can I find the Family History Center near me?
Please see the Family History Center site for help.

Do I have to be LDS/Mormon to use the Family History Center?
No. The Family History Centers are open to any who wish to access them.

Are you affiliated with the LDS church?
While we are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, we do not represent the church in any official capacity.
